Tourist Visa Requirements for All Passport Holders Including the United States

Purpose of visit - For tourism (pleasure) purposes only (Category “TR”)
Validity of visa The validity of the single-entry visa is 90 days (enter within 90 days from when the visa is issued for a stay up to 60 days) or 180 days for a Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa (METV)(must use all entries within 180 days from when the visa is issued with a stay up to 60 days for each entry).
Period of stay Travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 60 days at any time for each entry. The period begins on the date you arrive in Thailand.

Required documents :
For Single Entry Tourist Visa (Double and Triple Entry Tourist Visas no longer available) • Your actual Passport or Travel Document. (Passport or Travel Document must not expire within 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page). • 1 copy of Passport or Travel Document. (The page(s) shows your photo , name , date and place or birth and the expiration date of passport) • 1 application form [ Download ] (completed and signed by the applicant. Parents can sign for the minor). • 2 photos (Passport photo, 2” x 2”, color, front-view, taken within 6 months, and write your name and last name on the back of each photo). • 1 copy of U.S. green card or U.S. visa which permits applicant to reside legally in the U.S. (does not apply to U.S. passport holders) • 1 copy of airline ticket (confirmed onward ticket – showing flights into and out of Thailand. Either paper ticket or confirmed e-ticket is acceptable. Itinerary is NOT accepted. • 1 copy of applicant’s recent bank statement (reflect at least $700 per person, $1,500 per family) *If the applicant does not have his/her own bank statement, please submit the Affidavit of Support with the bank statement of the person who supports the applicant. *If using Online Bank Statement, it must show applicant's name and balance.
Requirements for the Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident for the Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) • Your actual passport (must have been valid for at least three months and will not expire within six months from time of travel to and from Thailand and have some blank visa pages) - include a copy of the "picture-page" of the passport • Include a copy of your U.S. Permanent resident card or U.S. visa (not applicable to U.S. passport holders) • Completed visa application [Download] (all sections must be completed including proposed address in Thailand) • Two recent passport-type photos • Bank statement showing a minimum of US$7,000 • Letter from employer verifying employment • Copy of airline tickets (e-tickets or itinerary showing confirmed flights) - tickets should show multiple entries • Copy of hotel reservation • Fee is $200 - payable by cashier's check or money order
Additional Requirements :
Passport holders from the countries below are required to submit the additional documents : *Applicants using passports from Afghanistan and Iraq: Visa application and supporting documentation must be forwarded to Thailand for visa approval - processing time is a minimum of three weeks.
The visa fee :
Fee for Tourist Visas for single entry is GRATIS from December 1, 2016, through February 28, 2017. Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is still $200. The fee must be paid in the form of MONEY ORDER or CASHIER’S CHECK only payable to “ROYAL THAI CONSULATE GENERAL LOS ANGELES”. Cash, Credit Card, Personal or company checks are NOT acceptable.
If an applicant wants to have passport mailed back , a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage ( Recommend using USPS Express Mail Flat Rate / NO FEDEX) must be included for the return of passport.
